Nice Guy

Hey man, now why’s it got to be this way?
Don’t pretend that she’s the one to blame
Hey man, it’s a sad and sorry game you play
And I know ‘cause I’ve played it much the same
You’re always trying to be the gentleman
But your designs are on a different end
You’re only waiting for to make your move
You’ve got something to prove
But kindness is not a form of currency
You fork out just so everyone can see
Hey man, if you’d ditch the negativity
Then you’d see you’re barking up an empty tree
And you’ll get nowhere baying like a cur
Your endless litany of empty slurs
The darker corners of your rich inner world
Are not impressing her
You’re no nice guy
You keep on saying that you are
But I can see it in your eyes
You got two faces
And a one track mind
Whole lotta nerve
But you got no spine
Hey man, why you acting like a little boy?
Like the world has gotta make it up to you?
Hey man, I know it makes you real annoyed
But we all have got the right to pick and choose
I hope one day you’re gonna get real tired
Of playing Pierrot in this pantomime
‘Cause Harlequin got Columbine every single time
While that clown watched on and pined
You’re no nice guy
You keep on saying that you are
But I can see it in your eyes
You got two faces
And a one track mind
Whole lotta nerve
But you got no spine
So why don’t you come clean?
A woman’s not some kind of a vending machine
Dispensing love at the push of a button
She never promised nothing
To you
You’re no nice guy
You keep on saying that you are
But I can see it in your eyes
You got two faces
And a one track mind
Whole lotta nerve
But you got no spine
You’re no nice guy
You can repeat it and repeat it
But it still remains a lie
You got two faces
And a dead end road in your mind
But you got no spine

Dorothy & Tin Man

Dorothea walks away as if to say
You could have it all back
Everything you’ve thrown away
But now see
This is how it’s going to be
If you really loved me
You would do it on your knees
So take this dance
Here is your chance
To do it over again
And don’t you try to tell me
That love is that cheap
That you can make these promises
You know you’ll never keep
And don’t you realise man
What to me your love has cost?
How can you say that innocence
Exists just to be lost?
How can you be
So hard and cruel?
How can you break this heart
Which once you could have ruled?
You still can make amends
Make straight that crooked stance
And take this dance
Here is our chance
To try it over again
And the tin man says
Well I have tried my best
To believe in my heart
But I still can get no rest
From this sensation
That there’s nothing in my chest
But the cold tick-tock
Of a dead man’s clock
And the spider’s web
And the rat’s nest
I do not see
It as you do
And though their sockets may be rusty
Both my eyes are sure and true
I love you
But now I have to go
And I may see you on the road
Somewhere in this great expanse
Sometime between now and then
When all things have been advanced
But I cannot take this dance
I took my chance
I will not take it again

Under The Sun
04:24
|

I might never get tired
Of watching the earth
Roll into the night
But gruel from a tube
It’s not so grand
There’s no substitute
For terrestrial fruit
It’s weight in your hand
And I do love the way
That time here runs clear
Beyond the night
And free of the day
But I float awake
For days and days straight
It’s never quite early
And it never gets late
And sometimes I’ll wonder what
I might have done
If I’d have remained there
Breathing the dirty air
With everyone
Under the sun
But earth got me irked
Acid rain burning
Holes in my shirt
Motionless turning
And inside my head
The traffic was dead
In dust covered gridlock
Lights glowering red
So I took the ultralight
Got a live in job
On this here satellite
Sat in fluorescent light
Buttons and knobs
Not all that fun
I’d give all I have
For some solid ground
A place in space
For you to lie down
On the green grass
The soft warm earth
Here there is nothing
Nothing of worth
Adrift in a void
The occasional asteroid
A beat up guitar
Some books about stars
A radio, beer
A record by Pink Floyd
It’s a good one but
Wish You Were Here

A Beating Heart
03:53
|
|||
Lock the door, turn out the light
Close the shutters and close them tight
No-one’s getting out alive tonight
No-one's getting out alive…
Pay no heed to their cries
Don’t you look them in the eyes
I’m a reasonable man you know
Pretty poison pleasantries I’ll say
I’m the lord of the flies in a suit and a tie
I’m the devil in a blonde toupee
The lanes are wide on this highway to hell
Where every man is for himself, yeah
A beating heart
Is a bleeding heart
Man of iron don’t feel no pain
Man of iron ain’t got no heart
Man of iron rust in the rain
Man of iron fall apart
Full of the holes of their soul’s attrition
Cruelty become a competition now
A coward barks in the dead of night
These cowards bark now but soon they’ll bite
Talking reason, but you can’t understand the rhyme
The flowers at the scene of the crime
Please explain, cause I got no brain
Please explain, cause I’ve gone insane, well
A beating heart
Is a bleeding heart
See what we’re doing, see what we’ve done
To all god’s creatures under the sun
Can’t you find it in yourself to love?
Can’t you see that we’re all one?
Won’t you look into my eyes?
Before you cut me down to size?
A beating heart
Is a bleeding heart
